A photo of my son to get your attention 🙂
Baby Z’s next day of sleep training started with her nap (these notes are directly from Z’s momma)
12:02PM Z was put down in her crib. She seemed pretty tired. Cried pretty hard but here we are at 12:06 and its simmering down quite a bit.
12:07 I peaked through the door and she was on her tummy down to her last soft groan. At this point it would be silly for me to do her 5 min check as I would for sure wake her back up or begin the cycle all over.
I decided why not go to yoga class at this point.
1:26 my honey text me to tell me she is starting to wake up. A perfect 1 1/2 hours. We are feeling extremely blessed at this point.
6:49 put Z down after dinner, full tummy, bath, read book, sang songs, nursed and it looked like she was about to fall asleep so took her off the boob and said “night night” “I love you” lots of kisses and put her down with her snuggly animal. She immediate screamed and cried.
6:55 check 1: I could still hear some crying but she was on her tummy and the cries were almost gone. I didn’t want to disturb her while she was clearly settling down. So I backed up and quietly left. A couple min later a cry came again but then dissipated shortly after. Praise the Lord! I would say overall cry time less than 7 min!! Wow!!! All I can say is wow!! Today has been a really good day overall. Not only did so we get a good nap with out too much crying but I also had a chance to go to yoga and decompress. My husband has been an amazing support! My husband and I are absolutely elated by the outcome so far. Thank you to Mattie our sleep consultant who gave us the okay and encouragement to do this. 🙂
7:27 check 1: high pitch crying-thought leg was caught in crib-walked in-settled Her for 30 seconds-she was sitting up.
Put her back down-Z holding on to her Lovey/Bepper
7:38 about 10 min later high pitch cry and again would settle down.
7:41 high pitch again
7:45 check 2-high pitch-Mom goes in to console
(About 9 minutes of crying total in this 1st wake.)
Total of 16 min of crying so far between initial night night and her 1st wake.
I Mom ran to target sure that sweet boo would not wake for a bit since I just put her down but I was wrong. I was talking to my dearest best pal who has been through this and is supporting me and just as I was walking in the door I heard our sweet angels cry. Dad had everything under control and assured me Z was settling down.
12:52 High pitch daddy did check 1
2:01 crying then quiet
6:15 daddy brought Z into bed. I nursed her and she fell back asleep around 6:30 ish. Poor baby’s feet and legs were icy cold. The temp in her room tends to be colder than the rest of the house. I’ll have to make some adjustments like turning her small heater on for a period of time as it can also get too hot if you leave the heater on too long.Tonight I will put her in her fully warm covered feet Jammie’s. Felt so bad as I nursed her her feet were tucked into my warm legs and I could feel them defrosting.
But all in all, night 2 is complete now. I had no idea I’d be able to do this. I’m elated we have not had any lengthy cries as I’ve heard other testimonies of 2 or even 3 hours. Z is on the road to getting a straight sleep through the night and so are we. Feeling blessed right now. 🙂
